In our digitally connected world, practical skills in graphic design for multimedia are essential in a wide range of businesses and organisations. The aim of this workshop is to introduce some of the industry based Adobe software programs commonly used in graphic design and social media.
With a focus on story-telling, the workshop aims to develop skills in design allowing you to develop strategies to communicate concepts and branding for design solutions.
You will explore Adobe Photoshop and create some media ready images and designs suitable for a variety of platforms. Adobe Photoshop is the industry standard software for adjusting, editing and designing pixel based images and layout.
- Learn the basic tools and layout of the program.
- Etch an image to remove the background and replace it with another.
- Adjust the colour of an image.
- Learn how to “transform” an image by adjusting its size and shape.
- Explore the various filters in Photoshop and apply them to images.
- Learn how to save an image for screen, creating suitable formats for mobile phones, tablets, monitors and social media.
- Learn how to save an image for various print outputs.
By the end of this session you will have created an image suitable for social media ie: Instagram and print featuring an edited portrait of your choice composed with a variety of backgrounds.
(We suggest you bring some digital images of yourself with a resolution of 300dpi)
