At the beginning of your research project one of the first things to consider is what data you'll need to answer your research question, and how you're going to collect it.
In today's high volume and data-rich environment it is pertinent to ask the question “what data exist out there that I can reuse?”.
In this workshop, we will explore:
- How to find existing research data from some of the most well-known data repositories.
- Other sources of potentially useful data (eg: government or organisational data).
- Principles to consider when interrogating the quality of a dataset.
- Understanding what terms and conditions might apply when using third party data.
Audience:
Staff, Higher Degree Research Students (e.g. PhD and Master's by research), coursework students (Honours)
